Why take tutoring and is it right for me?
Tutoring is useful for anyone because it helps students attain the grades they want. Whether you want that A+ or you are looking to pass, I will help in everyway I can to reach your goals.
Why choose KKEF Tutoring?
I love teaching, and I want you to love engineering and problem solving as much as I do. I have extensive tutoring experience teaching university engineering, but most importantly, I have taken the exact same courses as you and with the exact same profs. I know the styles of the vast majority of your professors, and I know what to expect on your final exams, and this gives students that come for tutoring an advantage.
What services does KKEF Tutoring offer?
I offer private tutoring and group tutoring, through weeklies, midterm crashes, and final crashes.
What courses are offered?
ENGR 251; ENGR 361; BCEE 342, BCEE 343, CIVI 341, CIVI 361, CIVI 372, CIVI 381, CIVI 432. I regularly update the list of courses that I teach, so feel free to send me an email if you need help in a different course.
What are your credentials?
I am currently working on my Masters in Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering from Concordia University. I also received my Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Concordia University with specialization in Civil Infrastructure (2010-2014). I have been teaching for over ten years, and have taught about thirty classes as a Teaching Assistant and Marker under ENCS at Concordia (2010-2017). I also received the ENCS Teacher of the Year Award in 2016 by Concordia for outstanding contributions and dedication to teaching university students engineering.
Do you recommend attending weeklies or crashes? How do I know what is better for me?
It depends on the type of student that you are and how you like to learn. Some students like to take their time with understanding the material and learning it in-depth –these students tend to prefer weeklies. Some students prefer just a quick review before the exam or would rather cram the material in a few hours–these students tend to opt for crash tutoring.
What are the class sizes?
Class size depends on the course and varies from semester to semester depending on many factors. Weeklies in ENGR have anywhere from 6-20 students, whereas specialized higher level civil engineering courses are in smaller groups between 5-10 students. Midterm and final crash numbers range between 20-45 students on average for ENGR, CIVI, and BCEE.
Do you sell your notes?
I sell my notes in courses such as BCEE 342 and BCEE 343. I sell course packs for most of my classes, but not always the full solution packs. It depends on the course, so for this it is better to inquire in person.
Where does the tutoring take place?
I rent space outside, so the location always changes from semester to semester. However, tutoring always take place downtown Montreal and usually within ten minutes from campus.
When do I pay for a tutoring session that I signed up for?
At the registration desk on the first day of the tutorial session.
How do I register for a tutoring session?
You can book via my website under the Registration section. Simply search for your course, send in your details, and click ‘Register’.
Can I pay for my courses online?
At the moment, only in person payments are accepted
What is your cancellation policy?
KKEF Tutoring has a 24-hour penalty-free cancellation policy. If you cancel more than 24 hours before your session, there are no fee penalties. Cancelling within the 24hour window leading up to your appointment will result in a 50% fee being made due.
Are there any promotional deals available?
I often offer promotional deals every semester. Keep a lookout on my Facebook page and on the Notifications section of my website for further details.
Is KKEF Tutoring affiliated with my university?
KKEF Tutoring is an independent tutoring company and is not affiliated with any university, although I have many years of teaching experience at the university and with the Engineering & Computer Science Association.
Need help with a course not listed on your website? Need advice on a particular prof? Where can I find the best crash course for this class?
I write many posts on my KKEF Engineering and Crash Tutoring FB page that address many FAQ. Because I have studied seven years in Concordia’s ENCS department, I know the final exam style of the vast majority of the professors. Oftentimes, students ask me questions about specific profs and about other tutoring companies; I typically answer these questions in person.
Typical questions asked include:
- What is the style of a prof and what kinds of questions does he like to ask on the final?
- What are the easiest courses to take under the Infrastructure option?
- What are the easiest general electives that I can choose from which will count toward my engineering degree and who are the best tutors/best crash courses available for those classes?
- I need help in a MATLAB assignment for ENGR391, who can help me?
- Who should I contact for tutoring in COEN 243, BCEE 231, ENGR 371, ECON 201, ECON 203, BCEE 344, and BCEE 345?
